Goldman Sachs sold 53.37 lakh Eternal shares worth Rs. 168.67 crore through a block deal on October 15, 2026. Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE executed the transaction on the NSE at Rs. 316 per share, while BofA Securities Europe purchased the entire stake.

The sale came as Eternal shares gained in recent months, with investors tracking the company's financial performance and quick commerce growth.

The transaction involved approximately 0.05% of Eternal's paid-up equity and priced the shares at a discount exceeding 2.6%. Despite the institutional sale, Eternal shares continued attracting market attention as its business expanded amid rising competition. The deal also marks the second major block transaction involving Eternal in roughly two months.

Goldman Sachs' latest transaction follows a larger share sale in September. BNP Paribas and Millennium Management together sold more than 9.9 crore Eternal shares worth Rs. 3,264.8 crore during that period. The latest deal remains much smaller, with BofA Securities Europe acquiring the entire block from Goldman Sachs.

Eternal, the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit, has benefited from strong growth in its quick commerce business. Blinkit's position in instant delivery has supported investor interest despite competition from newer players. Rapido's Ownly, Flipkart and Swish have entered a market where delivery speed and customer acquisition remain important battlegrounds.

Eternal reported a consolidated net profit of Rs. 92 crore in the first quarter of FY27. That represented nearly 3.7 times the Rs. 25 crore profit recorded during the same quarter last year. Operating revenue climbed 182% year over year to Rs. 20,211 crore, reflecting substantial business expansion.

Eternal shares have also recorded gains in recent months, according to the supplied market data. The stock rose nearly 10% over three months and gained 16.2% year-to-date. Strong financial results and Blinkit's growth have helped support investor interest, although competition remains a key business risk.

The block deal alone does not establish Goldman Sachs' reason for selling. Investors will continue watching Eternal's profitability, quick commerce expansion and competitive position for clearer signals about its performance.
