

A 13-year-old Shanghai student earned Rs. 2.5 lakh in three days through an AI study app. Zhu Shuhan created Zai Chang without formal coding skills. She sold 90 orders during a national AI product marketing competition in Hangzhou.
The competition ran from August 21 to 23, 2026, with more than 50 participants. Zhu earned 18,000 yuan from the app and secured third place. The event ranked products through customer revenue instead of technical judging.
Zai Chang works as an AI study assistant that supports children during homework sessions. Parents can upload photographs to create a virtual version of themselves.
The app uses a device camera to identify distractions during study sessions. It detects phone use or movement away from the study seat. A virtual parent then gives voice reminders to restore focus.
After each session, the AI study assistant creates a concentration report for parents. The approach combines study supervision with a more supportive digital experience.
Zhu developed the core functions within three to four days using AI assistance. She described the product idea to a large language model, which helped generate the required code.
The idea came from Zhu's own struggle with staying focused during homework. Her parents often remained busy, leaving her without regular study supervision.
‘My parents were so busy that they did not have time to accompany me,’ Zhu said.
Zhu also wanted the virtual parent app to guide children without creating excessive pressure. ‘AI can bring it to life’ when a strong idea exists, she said.
The result highlights how AI app development tools can reduce traditional coding barriers. A useful idea, clear product design, and AI assistance helped turn a student project into revenue.
