Adobe has rolled out a major Adobe Photoshop update with new AI and precision tools for creative professionals. The update arrived on August 27, with Photoshop 27.10 bringing faster editing workflows and greater creative control. The release targets designers, photographers, and new users through AI-powered tools and improved layer-based editing.
The update reaches Photoshop users through Adobe’s desktop application and combines traditional editing with generative AI. Adobe aims to reduce repetitive work while protecting detailed control through masks, layers and targeted instructions. The company says the changes can help creators move from ideas to finished images more efficiently.
“Great tools amplify your creativity while allowing you to focus on your ideas,” said Deepa Subramaniam, Adobe’s Vice President of Product Marketing.
A major addition comes through the Light Adjustment Layer, which brings professional lighting controls into Photoshop. Users can adjust exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites and blacks without permanently changing the original image.
Adobe has also introduced Instruct Edit with Masks, powered by Firefly Image 5. The feature lets creators describe changes while limiting edits to selected areas. This approach can protect faces, logos and other important image elements during AI editing.
The new AI-assisted editor offers a simpler workspace with natural language prompts. It combines tools such as Generative Fill, Generative Expand, Remove Background and Generative Upscale. The beta feature also includes AI Markup, which lets creators draw instructions directly over images.
Photoshop also expands Dynamic Text across custom shapes and paths, allowing text to adjust automatically. An integrated Adobe Stock panel adds access to more than 900 million assets inside Photoshop.
The update gives professionals a stronger balance between Firefly automation and precise manual editing. Adobe continues positioning AI as an editing assistant rather than a replacement for Photoshop’s core tools.
