IRA Financial Launches Enhanced Crypto Platform for Retirement Accounts

IRA Financial Launches Enhanced Crypto Platform for Retirement Accounts, Offering Real-Time Trading Across Nearly 100 Tokens, Broader Alternative Asset Access, and a $100 Annual Fee for Self-Directed Investors

IRA Financial launched a crypto investment platform, which enables retirement-account holders to buy and sell around 100 cryptocurrencies in real time. The platform aims to provide self-directed IRA and Solo 401(k) investors with a more streamlined and quicker platform for crypto assets without moving retirement funds to another account.

According to NS3.AI, the custodian manages over $7 billion across more than 27,000 accounts. The move comes as digital assets are increasingly featured in larger asset conversations in the US retirement sector.

Meanwhile, data from the Investment Company Institute showed the US retirement system is worth $49.1 trillion, so there is a notable market opportunity for platforms providing alternative assets within a tax-advantaged retirement account.

Real-Time Crypto Trading with Broader Asset Access

The platform enables clients to buy or sell cryptocurrencies directly from their IRA Financial account, eliminating the need for third-party procedures and forms. It offers around 100 tokens that can be traded, and the annual platform fee is $100, IRA Financial said.

The system also combines crypto with other non-traditional and traditional assets like stocks, real estate, gold, private equity, private businesses, crowdfunding and private credit. This all-in-one structure is aimed at investors who want to build diversified retirement portfolios using both conventional and non-traditional assets.

The new version will allow users to monitor the performance of their crypto portfolios with an integrated value graph, view the candlestick chart for each token, and provide access to order history and transfers. It is also mobile-responsive and boasts quicker load times for charts and live pricing.

Company Says Platform Improves User Experience

“Our clients don’t want to fill out a form to trade crypto. They want a crypto investing experience that is fast, intuitive, and fully integrated with the rest of their retirement account,” said Tyler Northrup, CEO of IRA Financial. “This new platform delivers exactly that. Investors can research, monitor, and trade digital assets in real time without ever leaving IRA Financial’s secure ecosystem.”

“For too long, crypto access in retirement accounts has been clunky, fragmented, or limited,” said Adam Bergman, founder of IRA Financial.

“We rebuilt this platform so clients don’t need to compromise on the functionality that non-crypto IRA platforms offer to access digital assets as part of their self-directed strategy. This is about making retirement investing more flexible, more responsive, and more aligned with how people want to invest today,” he added.

The launch marks the latest step in IRA Financial’s broader effort to modernize self-directed retirement investing and give clients more control over how they build diversified, tax-advantaged portfolios.
