Tata & Mahindra Slash EV Prices with March-End Mega Discounts

Electric cars are slowly becoming more popular in India, but high prices often stop many buyers from choosing them

India’s electric vehicle market is seeing major price cuts as the financial year comes close to ending. Leading car makers Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra have introduced huge discounts on several electric cars in March 2026. These offers are mainly aimed at increasing sales, clearing older inventory, and attracting more buyers to electric vehicles.

Electric cars are slowly becoming more popular in India, but high prices often stop many buyers from choosing them. Because of this, companies are now offering large benefits and incentives so that more people consider switching from petrol or diesel vehicles to EVs.

Tata Motors Announces Huge Discounts

Tata Motors, which currently leads India’s electric passenger vehicle market, has launched big discounts across its EV lineup. Popular models such as the Curvv EV, Nexon EV, Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Harrier EV are part of this offer campaign.

The largest discount is available on the Tata Curvv EV. In some cases, total benefits can go up to ₹3.30 lakh. These offers include cash discounts, exchange bonuses for old cars, and dealer incentives. The discounts mainly apply to vehicles that were manufactured earlier and are still available in dealership stock.

The Curvv EV is offered with 45 kWh and 55 kWh battery pack options, making it a strong competitor in the electric SUV segment. With the current discounts, the price difference between the Curvv EV and some petrol SUVs has reduced significantly. This makes the vehicle more attractive for buyers considering an electric option.

Another major model in the lineup is the Tata Nexon EV, which is one of India’s best-selling electric SUVs. The Nexon EV is currently available with benefits of up to ₹1.41 lakh. These offers apply to both the medium-range version with a 30 kWh battery and the long-range version with a 45 kWh battery

The Nexon EV continues to remain popular due to its good driving range, strong safety rating, and practical design for Indian roads. The added discounts further improve its value in the compact electric SUV segment.

Entry-Level EVs Become More Affordable

Tata has also included its smaller electric cars in the March discount campaign. The Tiago EV, which is one of the most affordable electric cars in the country, is available with benefits of up to ₹1.30 lakh depending on the variant and dealer stock.

Similarly, the Punch EV is being offered with discounts of up to ₹1.20 lakh. This model is gaining attention because of its compact size, SUV styling, and competitive pricing.

These discounts are expected to attract first-time EV buyers who want an affordable electric car for daily city driving.

Mahindra Also Pushes EV Sales

Mahindra & Mahindra has also joined the price reduction trend in the EV market. The company is offering dealer-level incentives and promotional discounts on electric models such as the XUV400 EV

Across the industry, some electric cars are currently seeing price cuts of up to ₹3.5 lakh as part of year-end clearance campaigns. These benefits vary depending on the location, dealership, and available inventory.

Mahindra is preparing to expand its electric vehicle lineup in the coming years. Because of this, clearing existing stock and keeping demand strong has become an important strategy.

Why Companies Are Giving Big Discounts

One main reason for these big discounts is the end of the financial year in March. Car companies want to sell their old stock before the new financial year starts in April. Many dealerships still have cars made earlier, so companies give discounts to sell them faster.

Another reason is strong competition in the EV market. Many new electric cars are coming to India. Because of this, companies are lowering prices so their cars remain attractive to buyers.

There is also slow EV adoption in some areas. Some buyers still worry about charging stations, battery life, and the cost of electric cars. Discounts help reduce the price and make EVs easier to buy.

Impact on the EV Market

Experts say these March discounts could increase EV sales quickly. Lower prices make electric cars more affordable for many families.

These offers may also help people who were unsure about buying an EV. With better prices, more buyers may decide to switch from petrol or diesel cars.

Overall, big price cuts from Tata Motors and Mahindra show that competition in India’s EV market is growing fast. Lower prices and better technology could help electric vehicles become more common in the coming years.
