The Indian stock market ended the week on a positive note, with the benchmark indices Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex recording gains on Friday. The Nifty 50 closed at 22,502, up 0.44%, while the Sensex closed 342 points, 0.34% higher at 74,005. The market witnessed a broad-based rally, with small and mid-cap stocks emerging as the best performers of the day.

The Nifty 50 traded within a range of 22,345.65 to 22,502.15 during the session, reflecting the underlying volatility. The Sensex, on the other hand, oscillated between 73,459.80 and 74,070.84. 

Despite small-cap and mid-cap stocks heavily steering the market upwards, top stocks performances showed mixed performances, with IT companies recording losses for the day.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)

The IT titan Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) experienced a challenging day, with its shares declining 1.22% to close at Rs 3,853. The stock traded within a range of Rs 3,830.00 to Rs 3,920.00, well below its 52-week high of Rs 4,254.75. TCS, which has a market capitalization of Rs 13.93 trillion, saw an average trading volume of 1.96 million shares.

Infosys

Another IT major also saw its share price dip, closing 0.62% lower at Rs 1,444. The stock traded within a range of Rs 1,439.25 to Rs 1,457.00, significantly lower than its 52-week high of Rs 1,733.00. Infosys boasts a market capitalization of Rs 5.98 trillion and an average trading volume of 7.50 million shares.

Hindustan Unilever (HUL)

The FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever (HUL) saw its shares decline by 0.53% to close at Rs 2,330. The stock traded between Rs 2,315.10 and Rs 2,351.90, well below its 52-week high of Rs 2,769.65. HUL, with a market capitalization of Rs 5.48 trillion, recorded an average trading volume of 2.13 million shares.

Reliance Industries (RIL)

Bucking the trend, Reliance Industries (RIL) closed 0.66% higher at Rs 2,869. The stock traded within a range of Rs 2,826.50 to Rs 2,874.40, inching closer to its 52-week high of Rs 3,024.90. RIL, the largest company by market capitalization of Rs 19.41 trillion, witnessed an average trading volume of 5.07 million shares.

HDFC Bank

The banking titan also posted gains, closing 0.42% higher at Rs 1,466.35. The stock traded between Rs 1,363.55 and Rs 1,757.50 over the past 52 weeks, with a market capitalization of Rs 11.14 trillion and an average trading volume of 14.80 million shares.

REC Limited

A public sector undertaking closed 0.54% higher at Rs 544. The stock traded within a range of Rs 539.30 to Rs 547.65, well below its 52-week high of Rs 567.15. REC Limited has a market capitalization of Rs 1.43 trillion and an average trading volume of 19.89 million shares.

Overall, the Indian stock market exhibited a mixed performance. IT stocks faced selling pressure, while select heavyweights, including Reliance Industries and HDFC Bank, supported the indices.
