Spread your wings
As a college student, I sometimes wish that I could go back to 3rd grade. During that time, my only worries consisted of soccer practice, play dates and getting home on time for my favorite show.
The reality of the situation is that I have moved on to a new chapter in my life. Growing up is not easy, and as every day passes we learn more about the world we live in and try to grasp why life is not as simple as it was in 3rd grade. Some days I wish to be like Peter Pan and "never grow up."
Although the wonderful world of Disney has created some of the most magical things, never growing up is not one of them.
I realize that I must not be afraid to spread my wings and fly. I must not be afraid to be the woman that I was born to be.
For many of us the biggest question in life is, why do certain things happen? Is there truly a reason for every step, every move, and ever word I say?
Lately I have a new perspective on life and I believe that everything happens for a reason. Although some of us spend our entire lives wondering why certain things happen; if we are lucky enough we will find our answers but if not we must accept the situation and learn from it.
I've learned that it is important to never dwell on the past but rather learn from it because without the past there is no future, no beginning and no opportunities. The past as well as the future may not always be filled with positive memories but pain doesn't last forever.
I have also realized that it is important to chase my dreams because opportunities will not always be knocking at the door. As we get older life gets more and more complicated. If we are lucky enough to have incredible family and friends to guide us into the future than half the battle is over.
People will continuously enter and leave your life but the ones that matter most will always be there. We must try and make the best of everyday no matter what obstacles may come. There is always someone experiencing a situation that is worse than our own.
As we go through our college years we should each create a plan. Whether that plan is to have a 4.0, fall in love or change the world, life does not always go according to plan. Nevertheless we should dust ourselves off and try again because failure is a natural part of achieving success.
Live with no regrets, do not hold grudges and forgive but never forget. Most importantly never settle for anything less than you deserve.
