Rent the runway

Written by Danielle Adone on . Posted in Fashion

You can rent a car, rent a house, or even rent a storage space but what about renting a dress for the wedding this weekend?

The truth is that no matter how many outfits a girl has in her closet it ALWAYS seems as though there is nothing to wear. For us girls, having nothing to wear just means another trip to the mall or to your friend’s closet.

Rent_the_Runway1

More often than not the same outfit will not be worn more than once or even twice so it is rarely worth it to buy designer brand clothes.

Renttherunway.com has taken high-end fashion to a completely new level; a level that every average girl can now afford. Rent The Runway was founded and created in New York City by two Harvard Business students with a simple idea and a dream.

According to the website, “Through exclusive relationships with top designers, Rent the Runway is able to continually update its stock with the latest pieces. And to think: it all started with that age-old complaint: I don’t have anything to wear.”

Fashion merchandise is becoming more and more expensive with every new season. A dress that cost you fifty dollars last fall is being sold for at least sixty dollars this season. Now you can rent the same dress for up to ninety percent off retail price and mail it back the next day.

According to the website “Rent the Runway lets you access your dream wardrobe for all of life’s special occasions at 90% off retail price. Choose current season fashion from over 95 designers for every black tie gala, wedding, date, holiday or night on the town.”

When you enter the homepage you can narrow down your results by entering in your zip code, the date you need the dress and your dress size. When you open the calendar you can see what dates are available for the dress you are looking to rent as well as a guarantee that the dress will arrive by the date of your big event.

Most people do not like shopping online because they are worried about how an item will actually look and fit. Rent The Runway allows you to order a backup size for free with your purchase. If you are torn between two dresses you can also order a second style for an extra twenty-five dollars.

Shipping and handling fees are also cost efficient. If you spend over $125.00 on the site, shipping is free. Sending the dress back to Rent The Runway is always free! All you have to do is ship the dress back in the pre-paid box or envelope.

What if you spill wine on your dress or the chocolate bar favor melts in your rented bag? You can purchase a five-dollar insurance fee that includes a spilled drink, a torn zipper, a loose stone and more. Dry cleaning is never an issue because dry cleaning is included in the rental fee.

This is the next big thing in fashion. If you don’t know what to wear to your sisters sweet sixteen this weekend or to the bachelorette party in Atlantic City sign up to use rentherunway.com now. Just make sure you’re not in a rush because there are over 20,000 dresses to choose from and you will definitely fall in love with more than one.
