Summer styles make great fall fashions
Celebrities such as Kate Moss and Katie Holmes have made shorts a staple in their cooler weather wardrobes, and as they grow in popularity, many designers are now making “winter shorts”.
The key to transitioning this summer basic is to choose a pair of shorts that are of a moderate length, preferably mid-thigh, (as a shorter length can look too scandalous, and a pair that is too long can look drab), and pair it with opaque tights or leggings. Opaque is key as it makes the look classy, not trashy. Throw on your favorite sweater, boots, flats, whatever have you, and you’re out the door.
Summer dresses whether printed or solid are also great to transition into fall, especially when it’s one you have fallen in love with over summer. Make the dress the center of your outfit and build the rest of your look around it.
Pair it with falls favorite trend, the combat boot, and you have your self an easy breezy summer to fall transition. Leather jackets (real or faux) are especially fun to pair with a summer dress, as they give dainty dresses a tough, chic vibe that anyone can pull of effortlessly.
Lastly, don’t pack away metallic pieces just yet. Metallics don’t only look great on tans, and glistening in the summer sun. They work all year round! Just because it’s a new season, doesn’t mean, we need to toss all the bright, fun colors of summer, and fall into a monochromatic slump of gray, navy, and black.
Have a little fun! Weather it’s in clothing or accessories, a little sparkle and shine never hurts anyone and may just brighten your spirits as the days get colder and darker.
